PLEASE DESCRIBE YOUR RECENT EXPERIENCE OF INSOMNIA

I suffer from insomnia for a long time. The most serious one is the recent period, but it also has good times and bad times. Basically, I suffer from insomnia every night.

I can only sleep for one or two hours when I have insomnia. I can sleep well for more than one or two hours, but as long as I wake up once, I can’t sleep again.

Because I suffer from diabetes and heart disease. I drink a lot of water because of my diabetes. I get up to go to the toilet twice to four times every night. Once I get up, I can’t sleep anymore. I have to wait until four or five o’clock to fall asleep.

But my head is not dizzy during the day, and insomnia has little effect on my spirit during the day, but I want to sleep during the day and have to sleep at noon. I slept soundly during my nap and had to sleep for more than two hours.

HOW IS YOUR MENTAL CONDITION AFTER INSOMNIA?

The whole day was in good spirits. If I take a walk during the day or get tired, I won’t suffer from insomnia at night. But basically, I don’t sleep well every night. I tested it with a smartwatch. This year I got 89 points for only one day of sleep, which is the highest score.

DID YOU HAVE INSOMNIA SINCE YOU GOT DIABETES?

It has something to do with diabetes. In terms of time, I have not had insomnia before retiring. I think it is because I have more time and fewer activities after retirement.

DO YOU KNOW WHY YOU SUFFER FROM INSOMNIA?

One reason is that I am sick, so I often think about it, and I can’t sleep when I think about it. Sometimes I feel anxious and depressed. The second reason is that I can’t fall asleep when encountering major events. Sleep better if I don’t think about anything at night and stay in a good mood.

HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT ABOUT SOLVING THE PROBLEM OF INSOMNIA?

I have also read a lot of information. I dare not take medicine because I am diabetic and have heart disease. It is more burdensome to take more medicine, and I feel that after taking too much medicine, the side effects will be great. As long as my head is not dizzy, I don’t think there is a big problem.

I felt it myself, and I also read the information that insomnia would cause my head to dizzy and lose energy during the day. In the past few months, I thought my body did not have these symptoms, so I did not pay attention to it.

WHERE DID YOU GET INFORMATION RELATED TO INSOMNIA?

I browsed the information on the Internet, such as TikTok, Today’s headline. In addition, WeChat groups or public accounts will also post some insomnia experiences and the dangers of insomnia and precautions.

ARE THERE MANY ELDERLY PEOPLE AROUND YOU WHO HAVE THE SAME INSOMNIA PROBLEM AS YOU?

Because old people mainly consider the issue of physical health after retirement. So there are many elderly people who can’t sleep after thinking about it

DO YOU THINK THE ENVIRONMENT AFFECTS YOUR SLEEP?

Another reason for insomnia is the environment, especially when the car is driving at night, the sound is very noisy, and the air in the room must be circulated. You have to open the door of the room if you don’t close the window, so the environment also has a great impact on sleep.

HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT ABOUT SOLVING THE PROBLEM OF INSOMNIA?

How to solve this? I think it is because I am older. Tik Tok said that it is normal for the elderly to have insomnia, and it is normal for the elderly to have less sleep time. Even four or five hours is normal

SO DO YOU THINK THAT INSOMNIA HAS NO EFFECT ON THE BODY?
