Keith Haring
One sentence to evaluate Keith Haring: “The man who brought street culture into the palace of art”
He is a famous street painting artist and social activist in the 1980s. His works have obviously become a part of modern popular culture. It is not an exaggeration to say that it is basically seen everywhere in daily life, and received very strong responses in various places.
His works have a strong pop art style, iconic bright colors, and simplified shapes, often like some kind of printed patterns
The iconic villain is full of the entire composition, without perspective or texture, but with many symbolic emotions
Keith Haring believed that art was for everybody.
Throughout his career, Haring produced murals, sculptures, and paintings to benefit hospitals, underprivileged children’s groups, and various community health organizations.
He also loved Disney’s Mickey Mouse. As a boy, he’d dreamed of being a cartoonist just like his idol, Walt Disney. Throughout the 1980s, Disney’s Mickey Mouse was featured prominently in his work, which appeared in the subways, streets, and clubs of New York. I think that this kind of remix work does not make others think that this is not his own work, instead, it highlights his style more clearly.
